AAKRUTI
SITE : MANDAPESHWAR CAVES
Our group’s first task was to visit the site and observe how people use the space, track sunlight and shadow patterns, and note any interesting activities. We then translated these observations into detailed plans and sections.

SITE OF INTERVENTION

The waiting area is located a short distance from the entrance, on the left side, in the middle of the seating zone.
The space is open to the sky, allowing natural light and fresh air to enhance its calm atmosphere.
Compared to the rest of the area, it is quieter and experiences less movement, making it a peaceful spot to sit and wait.
The thoughtful layout and open design create a comfortable environment for relaxation, reflection, or simply passing the time.
The concept of the waiting space is that of an open and spacious area that invites people from both sides. The movement of people is naturally guided and controlled by the arrangement of plinths and shaded areas. People interact with the different levels and shadows in a variety of way some choose to sit, rest, or simply pause as they move through the space.
An additional feature is a dedicated reading area, which encourages people to stay longer. The placement of the plinths in this zone is thoughtfully designed to support different reading positions, offering comfort and flexibility for all users.
